Dr. Dennis O'Connor's practice location is close to Vinnin Square and very accessible from Salem, Swampscott and Lynn. His office is attached to his house. This offers Dr. O'Connor the luxury of being close to his wife and three young children as he works. This also allows Dr. O'Connor the ability to spend more time with his patients as his overhead costs are reduced. Unlike many offices, Dr. O'Connor does not run a high volume practice. Typical treatments last approximately one half hour with the initial visit being one to one and a half hours. Dr. O'Connor does not believe in over booking and therefore there is usually no waiting time for your scheduled appointment. Dr. O'Connor is a Summa Cum Laude graduate from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and University of Connecticut. His education also included advanced training in Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and rehabilitation. Dr. O'Connor is a third generation chiropractor. He has been in practice since 1988 and utilizes gentle full spine diversified spinal manipulation combined with physical therapy modalities such as electrical muscle stimulation, ultrasound, heat and massage therapy. All treatment is "hands on" and Dr. O'Connor performs all therapies himself and does not employ any assistants. Dr. O'Connor is also trained in activator technique for those patients who cannot tolerate manual adjusting. Dr. O'Connor's philosophy regarding your health is to spend time with you educating and training you in proper home stretching, exercises, nutrition and ergonomics. He believes in having the patient be in control of their health. Therefore, Dr. O'Connor does not schedule patients for long, unnecessary treatment plans. Most problems will respond to care within several weeks and would then be treated on an as needed basis. Combining proper treatment, exercise and simple home care, most problems can resolve without need of further intervention. Should your condition require additional work up or specialty care, Dr. O'Connor is able to order x-rays, CT Scan, MRI, EMG, blood work, etc. He also works directly with many local and Boston-based specialists such as Orthopedic Surgeons, Neurosurgeons, Physical Therapists, Acupuncturists, Nutritionists, Homeopaths and Massage Therapists. Many of Dr. O'Connor's patients are referred directly from their primary care or specialist doctors. Dr. O'Connor is a provider with almost all insurances and HMO's.
